Making The Right Choice In Affiliate Programs - 5 Important Tips

There are many factors to consider when you're trying to decide which affiliate programs to promote and choosing one can be nerve-racking. However, the right program can determine if you'll be successful or not.

As a new affiliate marketer, owning a website or knowing how to create one may not be necessary from the get go. This is because some affiliate companies offer websites in their free or paid packages. Also you can promote your affiliate links through social media, paid advertisements, blogs, forums, etc.

Affiliate marketing can be a full or part-time job. Already have a day job? Start part-time, stay focused and avoid jumping from one program to another. If you're having trouble trying to decide which affiliate programs to promote, check out these few tips that will help you recognize the right program for you.

1.Commissions/Recurring Commissions: It is important that you promote a program with reasonable commission percentage usually about 30% - 75%. Sometimes affiliates can earn even more from a sale than the company offering the product. You have to make sure that you will earn enough to recover your expenses and make a profit.

Another factor to consider is whether the affiliate program offers recurring commissions. This is when you earn from a particular customer more than once. That is, if the customer makes another purchase from the company or when the customer registers for a paid membership site you still earn your commissions.

2.Payout limit and payment frequency: This is another important factor to keep in mind. Different affiliate companies have varying payout limits, with some offering the affiliate marketers the freedom to choose from a list of accepted variations.
I'm sure you'll like to be paid within a fair amount of time, so be sure to check for the payment frequency of the affiliate company you partner with. Also, ensure that they offer cheap and uncomplicated means of collecting your commissions. For instance, when collecting international checks there are certain charges involved that make the option undesirable.

3.Promotional tools: surely you want to partner with a company that offers promotional tools such as, banners, keyword lists or keyword generation tools, sample PPC ads, sample sales/email letters, their affiliates can use as a guide for their own marketing campaigns. You need all the weapons necessary to drive the desired traffic to your site. Great affiliate programs offer a wide range of resources to make the job easier for their affiliates. Some even offer coaching and frequent training.

4.Great Customer Support: You want to be able to reach the support service of the company you decide to partner with. You don't want to send out a support ticket and get the usual form email or make a phone call and get an electronic message. Test this out and make sure you get the right response. A professionally run program understands that the more sales affiliates are able to make, the more money for its owners. Support must be easily reachable.

5.Proof of success: Look for a company that has shown they reward their affiliates for hard work. A top affiliate program will have a history of success and you can easily find out if a company is one of character, by seeing what kind of reputation they have on Google, Yahoo, and other search engines, when you do some research on their company name. It is also an advantage if they have a verifiable money back guarantee.

These are great tips and important for beginners, follow them and you'll be partnering with a good affiliate company that will guide your success.
